Field & Game Australia

Hunt with a SEP advantage

Get an edge and improve your hunting skills by doing the Shotgunning Education Program before Duck Season. Field & Game Australia development manager Daryl Snowdon will conduct two SEP courses aimed at beginner/novice and advanced/expert hunters.

SEP training is a joint initiative between FGA, SSAA Vic, and the Game Management Authority designed to enhance shooting skills with steel shot loads.

During the one-day course you will get information and hands-on practical training which will help improve your shooting skills, the collection of game so your game bird hunting is sustainable and humane.

We will take you through pattern testing your shotgun to various distances and choke/load combinations and compare the results to the Tom Roster’s Nontoxic Shot Lethality Table as adapted for Australian Game Birds. We will then hone your hunting skills by examining, demonstrating and practicing distance estimation (for target acquisition) and shooting skills (simulated target practice).

Hunters are required to bring a quantity of their preferred hunting loads for pattern testing.

The  course is $150 adults and $100 for Juniors.
